allendale challenge

Taking place in April each year, the Allendale Challenge raises funds for the team. It is considered by many to be one of the toughest challenge walks around! It is always very popular and should be a "must do" event for any keen walker or fell runner. The route covers some of the finest peat bogs in the North Peninnes.

Taking an anti-clockwise loop from Allendale town, the route covers 26 miles (42 km) taking in Hard Rigg, Black Hill and Kilhope Law before returning to the town via Spartylea, The Drag, and Ladelwell. The weather on the event can be as challenging as the terrain!

We now have a fantastic, dedicated website for the Allendale Challenge for more info and to get signed up!

alwinton challenge

Usually taking place in June each year, the Alwinton Challenge has been another key fundraising event for the team. Based in and around Alwinton, there are three walks to suit all abilities ranging from a 6 mile ´family walk´ to the 20 mile ´Big Walk´. It's also possible to enter as a runner, for those that are keen!

The event hasn't run since 2019 due to Covid, and then due to damage to the area caused by Storm Arwen, which wreaked havoc across Northumberland. The future of the event is still undecided, but we're sorry to say it won't be taking place in 2023.

Watch this space for further announcements to see whether the Alwinton Challenge will return one day.

Christmas Collection

Come and see us every year on the last Saturday before Christmas, at Monument in Newcastle. Look at the Land Rover, chat to team members, pat the search dogs and why not pop a few quid in a bucket!
